All high school students will be expected to wear Big Spring Physical Education attire, beginning in 2014-15.  The attire is a maroon and gold shorts and shirt combination with a Bulldog logo.  The shorts/shirt combination is made of moisture management, “performance” clothing.  The cost of the shorts/shirt combination is $18.00.  The school will work with families in financial need regarding costs.  The Health and Physical Education Department is moving to standard physical education attire for several reasons:

Hello everyone!

Happy summer!  The Big Spring Marching Bulldogs and the Big Spring Band Boosters are pleased to be hosting the Bulldog Band Brawl marching competition on Saturday, September 26th, beginning at 6 PM in the High School Stadium.  This comes after a 4 year hiatus from hosting a show.  We currently have 8 bands attending from throughout South Central PA, making this the largest of the four shows we’ve hosted.

This is not only a great opportunity for the competing bands, but also a great fundraising opportunity for the band boosters, who fund a majority of the marching band program here.  Attached to this email is an opportunity for all of our supporters to help us out!  The band members would love to see their teachers wish them well with Patron Ads in the program.  Patron ads are available in 1 or 2 line versions for only $5 or $10.  Additionally, to supplement the cost of awards and judges, we are selling trophy sponsorships.  Trophy sponsorships begin at $35 for specialty awards and go up from there.  If you sponsor a trophy, you also have the opportunity to present the trophy at the awards ceremony following the competition if you choose to.

If you are interested in sponsoring either opportunity, please see the attached forms.  Patron Ads would need to be in by Friday, September 4th, and trophy sponsorships would need to be in by Friday, September 11th to ensure we can get the plates engraved in time.  If there is a band member you would like to give “sales credit” to for either, feel free to put them in the box labeled Band Member.  We have incentives for the section with the highest dollar amount in sales per member!

As always, thank you for the continued support of music and the arts at Big Spring!

We hope to see many of you at the show on September 26th!

Security Camera Installation on District Buses

In the Big Spring School District, we continually strive to ensure the safety and security of our students.  For that reason, the District installed security cameras on all district buses over the summer.  If your child rides a district bus (to/from school, activity buses, field trips, etc.), he/she may be subject to video recording.  For more information, please contact the District Transportation Coordinator at 717-776-2408.
